Martyn Jones
Born in Pontypool, David Martyn Jones studied at London College of Music. He was appointed accompanist of Newport Philharmonic Choir at its formation in 1988. He accompanies the choir in rehearsals and concerts and also plays in the orchestra when required. Martyn deputises for the Musical Director and takes sectional rehearsals when needed.In 2016, Martyn accepted the positions of Assistant Music Director of City of Newport Male Choir, and Assistant Accompanist of Cwmbran Male Voice Choir. Martyn is Director of Music at St Michael’s Church, Llantarnam, and organist at Capel Ebeneser, Newport. He works for Gwent Music Support Service and teaches piano and theory of music. He was appointed Musical Director for Pontnewydd Male Choir in August 2019.
